Several Resolute facilities from the Lac-Saint-Jean (Quebec) region are joining together to sponsor para-alpine ski racer Florence Carrier, a two-time gold medalist in the 2023 Canada Winter Games and an aspiring participant in the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
Originally from Orford (Quebec), Florence, 16, is already a member of Canada’s para-alpine ski team and has long served as a spokesperson for the War Amps, an organization devoted to improving the lives of Canadian amputees. Resolute’s pledge of $15,000, disbursed over three years, will help fund her Paralympic dreams.
Florence distinguished herself as an athlete from a young age. Her parents, sports lovers themselves, introduced her to the ski slopes when she was just three years old, and she started racing at age nine. Today, in good weather and bad, she trains five days a week, and, during the summer, also competes in triathlons and plays baseball.
Florence, who uses a prosthetic device due to the amputation of her right leg when she was a baby, does not view this disability as a barrier to achieving her ambitions. We are inspired by her resilience and determination and wish her continued success in all her endeavors.
