Domtar’s Alma Mill Publishes a Book Celebrating 100 Years of History

ALMA, QUEBEC, February 27, 2026 — As part of its 100th anniversary celebrations, Domtar’s Alma paper mill is proud to announce the official launch of a book chronicling a century of know-how, innovation and community engagement. The launch ceremony was held on site today, with active and retired employees taking part.

Papeterie d’Alma, un siècle de papier, d’humains et de passion was written by Éric Tremblay, an author and historian known for his meticulous research. The book came about thanks to the original idea and close collaboration of Denis Lafrenière, a former general manager who is passionate about regional industrial history, as well as Annie Coulombe, a former Human Resources manager.

“Our facility has witnessed major transformations and outstanding human contributions. The book pays tribute to the employees who have built, advanced and sustained it over the decades,” said Stéphane Gadbois, general manager of the Alma mill.

“The centennial of a mill is a rare event, and its significance over the years deserves recognition,” said Éric Tremblay, the book’s author.

The Alma mill is pleased to offer copies of the book to the region’s major public and institutional libraries, as well as to archives for public consultation. In addition, the Société d’histoire du Lac-Saint-Jean will sell copies of the book to raise funds for its activities. Domtar is proud to invite the community to learn more about the historic legacy of the local paper industry.
