A highly seasoned public company general counsel, Theodore Allegaert (Ted) has more than 25 years of professional experience, both in private practice at preeminent firms in Silicon Valley and New York and in senior in-house legal roles at multinational industrial companies in North America, Europe and Asia.

Over the course of his career, Ted has gained an unusually broad range of legal competency and brings to the CLO role extensive transnational experience in corporate law and business counseling, including in respect of governance, capital markets, trade regulation, SEC reporting, M&A, commercial transactions, labor matters, compliance and litigation. He also has significant board-level and company secretarial experience.

Ted joined Domtar in early 2025 as VP, Special Counsel – Treasury and Finance, and thereafter was promoted to VP, Deputy Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary. Since joining the company, he has worked on a range of complex matters and built strong collaborative relationships within the legal department and across the organization.

Ted holds a J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Chicago Law School and a B.A. from Columbia University in New York. He is proficient in French and will be based in the United States, where he is licensed in New York, California and Florida.
