Seth Kursman

Seth Kursman is the vice president, U.S. Public Affairs for Domtar. He assumes the leadership of the overall public affairs program in the United States, while having accountability for complex bilateral issues and global public policy initiatives. He has joint oversight of the company’s fully integrated communications and public affairs function.

With 35 years of experience in various corporate and division-based functions at Resolute Forest Products (predecessor company), Mr. Kursman has acquired extensive political and public policy experience as well as expertise in media relations, corporate and financial communications, environmental affairs, and corporate social responsibility.  His leadership of Resolute’s overall sustainability program garnered North American and global recognition.

Mr. Kursman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988 from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, where he distinguished himself as a James Bowdoin Scholar throughout his tenure at the college. He graduated with high honors in Government and Legal Studies with an added concentration in Middle East Studies. He has served on several philanthropic as well as industry association and advocacy boards. He is a member of the Marketing Expert Panel at the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University, in Montreal and a guest lecturer at McGill. Mr. Kursman is currently on the Executive Committee of the U.S. National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, a member of the Board of Directors of Forests for the Future, a board member on the American Forest & Paper Association political action committee (PAC), and serves as founder and chairman of the Domtar PAC. He was named Top Global Sustainability Leader for 2017 by the Business Intelligence Group and was also recognized in 2016 by PR Week as among the 500 Most Influential Operators Around the World
