Chief Human Resources Officer
Maxime Savignac was appointed chief human resources officer of Domtar in July 2026.
Mr. Savignac is an accomplished human resources executive with extensive international experience leading global HR organizations in the natural resources sector. He joined Domtar from Rio Tinto, where he held a series of senior leadership positions of increasing responsibility, including vice president, Human Resources – Minerals, and vice president, Human Resources – Aluminium.
Throughout his career, Mr. Savignac has led global and regional teams in support of large-scale business operations, with responsibilities spanning talent management, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, labor relations, culture transformation, employee engagement and external stakeholder relations, including First Nations. He has played a key role in driving business performance through strategic organizational effectiveness initiatives, business integrations and the development of high-performing teams. He is known to successfully translate the business agenda into an impactful people strategy.Â
In addition to his corporate leadership experience, Mr. Savignac served on the board of directors of Alloprof, a Quebec non-profit organization dedicated to educational success, where he contributed to governance and human resources oversight.
Mr. Savignac holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom) and is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR). He also holds a law degree from the University of Ottawa and completed his professional training at the École du Barreau du Québec.
