James (Bill) Edwards

Senior Vice President, Pulp, Paper, and Packaging Operations

James (Bill) Edwards, Senior Vice President of Pulp, Paper, and Packaging Operations has been with Domtar since 1996. He is a member of Domtar’s management committee.
Mr. Edwards has more than 30 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry. He is responsible for all pulp, paper, and packaging manufacturing and converting, as well as optimization efforts at each of Domtar’s facilities. His organization is also responsible for Domtar’s safety, environmental, quality, continuous improvement, engineering and innovation teams. Previously, he served as vice president of paper manufacturing.
Mr. Edwards has held a variety of mill and corporate positions throughout his career, including vice president of Domtar’s pulp and paper manufacturing services team; general manager of Domtar’s Bennettsville, South Carolina, paper mill; operations manager at the Plymouth, North Carolina, mill; as well as operational leadership roles in linerboard, fluff pulp and uncoated freesheet paper.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He currently serves on the TAPPI board of directors; the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement’s board of governors; and on the board of trustees for Western Michigan University’s Paper Technology Foundation. He was inducted into TAPPI’s Couch Pit Pulp & Paper Society in 2015, and he received the organization’s Ray H. Cross award for his contribution to community service in 2012. In 2011, Mr. Edwards was recognized as South Carolina Economic Ambassador of the Year for Marlboro County, where he was a board member for the Marlboro County Economic Development Partnership for many years.
