John Lafave is senior vice president, Commercial – Pulp, at Domtar. He is responsible for developing and deploying the go-to-market strategy for the company’s pulp business, which includes all elements of sales and marketing.

Mr. Lafave joined Resolute Forest Products, a predecessor company to Domtar, in 2003 and has spent more than 35 years in the forest products industry.

Prior to his present role, Mr. Lafave served as senior vice president, Pulp and Paper Sales and Marketing, from January 2011 through February 2023, where he also oversaw the Pulp and Paper Business Optimization Group (consisting of the logistics, customer service and production planning functions). He was vice president, Paper Sales, with increasing responsibilities, from November 2004 through December 2010, and executive sales representative from September 2003 through November 2004. Before joining the company in 2003, Mr. Lafave served in various sales roles at UPM-Kymmene from October 2000 through September 2003 and Repap Enterprises from August 1988 through September 2000.

John Lafave holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from McGill University in Montréal, Quebec.
