DOMTAR EarthChoice

Eagles Release - October 30, 2007

On October 30, 2007, the Eagles released their newest CD called “Long Road Out of Eden.” The album is the first new music from this Rock & Roll Hall-of-Fame band since 1980.  One of the most anticipated albums this year, the 20-song, double-disc CD hit shelves exclusively at all Wal-Mart stores across the United States and Canada.

The album’s unique CD package features Domtar Feltweave®, a text and cover paper made with 30% post-consumer recycled fiber and virgin fiber from FSC-certified forests or other controlled sources. Feltweave papers are part of the Domtar EarthChoice® family of products. Specifying paper from the EarthChoice line of environmentally and socially-responsible papers reflects the band and Wal-Mart’s shared commitment to sustainability and environmental causes.

To ensure paper is sourced from well-managed forests, EarthChoice papers are certified to the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), publicly endorsed by the Rainforest Alliance, and supported by World Wildlife Fund and Forest Ethics. Using paper products from well-managed forests has a great global impact in conserving biodiversity and improving livelihoods in local communities.

The CD cover was designed by Smog Design in Los Angeles, CA and printed by Ivy Hill Packaging.  The album is available exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club in the U.S. and Canada, and through Walmart.com, Samsclub.com and the band’s web site http://www.eaglesband.com/. The band was attracted to Wal-Mart because the retailer has recently unveiled simple and straightforward environmental goals, including selling products that sustain the earth’s resources and the environment. “The Eagles' new album,” said Dan Belec, Wal-Mart's divisional merchandise manager of home entertainment, “demonstrates Wal-Mart's commitment to bringing our customers great value, emerging music and products that promote sustainability.

The Eagles - Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit - have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, have won four Grammy Awards, and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall-of-Fame in 1998.
