On April 30, Domtar participated in the opening of a Ben Carson Reading Room at Johnsonburg Elementary School in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania. Domtar helped establish this reading room through its Community Investment program. Domtars 378 employees at the mill in Johnsonburg manufacture paper for the printing, publishing and digital imaging industry.
Domtar Goes Retro for 1960’s Special Edition of Newsweek
Domtar has placed an ad in a special retro edition of Newsweek magazine to promote the value of paper. The ad has a 1960s look, but the message still applies – that studies have shown that people read up to 30% faster on paper and retain more of what they read on paper. The magazine was released on March 19th to promote the season premiere of the hit television show Mad Men, which is set in the 1960s.
The ad is part of Domtar’s PAPER because campaign, which will be running in national media throughout 2012. It shows a boy dressed as a superhero and reading a comic book as his mother proudly watches. The message: while entertainment options have changed, people still enjoy reading on paper.
