Community Involvement

As a major employer in our communities, we help drive local economies through the salaries and benefits we provide our employees, as well as local taxes. We also supply much needed assistance to numerous organizations in the towns and cities where we operate.

One of the ways we seek to make a direct and positive impact is by supporting employees who donate their time and skills to worthy initiatives. Whether they are helping improve the quality of life of their neighbours, working to preserve their town’s heritage or lending a hand to hurricane victims thousands of miles away, we consider them our best ambassadors and the living embodiment of our commitment to social involvement.

We also provide financial support to charitable organizations across Canada and the U.S. through our annual Centraide/United Way campaign. Every year, our employees donate tens of thousands of dollars in support of this national umbrella organization. For every dollar they raise, Domtar contributes an additional 50 cents.
