Life begins in the forest.
That’s why Domtar manages this precious resource with responsible practices. As the largest manufacturer of uncoated freesheet paper in North America, we have led the way in sustainable forestry practices, offering a variety of environmentally responsible products for all kinds of end uses — from business and publishing to design and printing. At every level, Domtar is committed to conducting business in a manner that conserves resources and reduces our environmental footprint, from increasing energy efficiency at our mills to encouraging recycling and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions — even as our production increases. For the best in quality paper, extensive selection and environmental responsibility, you can always rely on Domtar.
Certification
We believe the best way to ensure that our forests, manufacturing and distribution operations are managed in a responsible, sustainable and transparent manner is through certification by internationally recognized third-party organizations. Rigorous independent scrutiny ensures integrity in the chain-of-custody from the forest to the market. All of Domtar’s facilities are certified to the standards of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and/or the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI).
Conservation
Domtar is one of the founding members of the Canadian Boreal Leadership Council, formed in order to ensure that Canada’s Boreal region is the world’s best-conserved forest ecosystem. And our involvement with other initiatives, such as work with FSC Canada, support of Ontario’s Lands For Life project and the transfer of certain Domtar lands to Nature Conservancy, has helped make us one of North America’s most active industrial advocates for forest conservation.
