Storage and handling
- If possible, keep your copier or press in an air-conditioned environment with stable temperature and humidity.
-
Temperature acclimatization is a good idea. Bring the paper into the room where the copier or press is located 24 hours before opening cartons or removing ream wrappers. This is especially important during cold weather.
-
Don’t turn off air conditioning over weekends or holidays unless adequate time is allowed on “business days” for the system to come back into balance.
-
Don’t store paper in direct sunlight or in doorways.
-
Provide adequate space and racks for paper storage to avoid loss through damage to the stock.
-
Don’t stack cartons on end - keep the paper flat.
-
Use pallets - don’t stack cartons on cement floors.
-
Keep the floors clean and free of dust and grit.
-
Don’t drop cartons.
-
Use the oldest stock first. You may want to put the date the stock was received on the wrapper or label.
-
Don’t destroy labels. Keep the paper identified.
-
Fan the paper before you load it into the copier.
-
Don’t leave a ream open. Reseal opened reams and repack them in cartons to keep out humidity, dust and dirt.
-
Reseal opened cartons.
