- La forêt sous le verglas : prudence et patience
- Advice from an ad hoc committee set up by the ministère des Ressources naturelles du Québec to conduct research into forestry and maple growing in January, 1998.
This committee was formed upon the request of the deputy minister of forests to answer questions about sugarbush, plantations, and natural forests damaged by the ice storm of January, 1998. It is composed of researchers from the forestry research division of the department of natural resources.
This committee works in tandem with researchers in other forestry and maple-growing agencies.
Its mandate has been to produce a document that analyzes the situation and provides information to regional respondents to the department of natural resources and MAPAQ, answering questions from maple-syrup producers, woodlot owners, and managers of public forests. The document includes a simplified method for evaluating damage caused by the ice storm and answers the major forestry questions that victims have regarding their woodlots or the forests for which they are responsible.
One of the main objectives of this document is to make the same information and analytic picture of the situation available to all regional respondents
