Tree and the Ice Storm

The recent ice storm had disastrous consequences for some areas of the country. Obviously, the highest priority is to see to the safety and well-being of residents in the affected areas.

A number of forestry and wildlife experts have been brought together by the Ordre des ingénieurs forestiers du Québec (Quebec order of forestry engineers) in an effort to provide the general public with clear information. You can access this information on the "World of Trees" Web site, among other places. People are invited to visit the site to get answers to practical questions:

• by consulting the frequently asked questions (FAQ),
• by sending photographs and specific questions to the group of specialists, who will try to supply solutions, or
• or by following the links to Web sites of interest, such as those maintained by Forestry Canada, the ministère des Ressources naturelles du Québec (Quebec natural resources department) and Laval University.
