Frequently asked questions

9 - Q : If I remove only the broken stem, will the two other birches survive?
When part of the trunk is torn, look at the proportion of the circumference that is affected. Generally speaking, when more than 40% of the circumference of the trunk is damaged (i.e., when the bark and part of the wood is torn off), the injury is serious and the tree may not survive. If one stem only was severely damaged, cut it off at the bottom and the other two may survive.
