Frequently asked questions
- 25 - Q : What should I do to limit insects and fungus on my trees?
- A : Reduce the number of entry sites for harmful organisms by making them unattractive. Clean the wounds, make fresh, clean cuts to the branch stubs, disinfecting tools after each cut, and watch for signs of the presence of insects or disease. These activities will all help limit the damage.
Pesticides (fungicides and insecticides) should only be used as remedies. There is no point applying an insecticide if there are no insects to kill. Insecticide will not prevent subsequent insect infestations. And not all insects are harmful. Pesticides should only be used upon the recommendation of specialists.
