Frequently asked questions
- 22 - Q : What should I do if my trees are older and their crowns were crushed under the weight of the ice?
- A : For older stands, the crowns of trees that are damaged but reparable can be pruned and shaped. If the trunk is broken or the wounds are too large to be repaired, you may try coppicing (cutting the tree near ground level and growing one of the new stool shoots), but this may not be as successful as with young trees. Trees that are bent over should be straightened up with stakes or guy lines.
