Frequently asked questions
- 17 - Q : What should I do if the bark is damaged or torn off?
- A : Trim away loose and damaged bark to restore sap circulation and accelerate the healing process. In a few years, the callus will cover the entire wound. This clean-up should be done quickly, because an untreated wound or tear often loosens the bark around the original wound, thereby increasing the risk of contamination. Remove any loose and broken bark down to the healthy wood in an elongated oval around the wound. Then smooth the wound to prevent the entry of insects and fungus spores and to prevent rainwater from pooling in the affected area.
