Frequently asked questions

5 - Q : Should I remove the ice from the tree?
A : Branches imprisoned in the ice on the ground may be carefully liberated to help them straighten up naturally. Trees rarely return to their original position without help. But it is best to wait for above-freezing temperatures before trying to remove ice from trees, or the trunk or branches may break. Weather permitting, gradually straighten the tree by attaching it to a nearby tree or other rigid structure. Stakes can be used to help straighten smaller trees.
