Frequently asked questions

9 - Q : Should I remove damaged branches myself, or hire experts to do it?
A : Most people can do some of the work themselves. The many large, broken and ice-caked branches hanging from trees are extremely dangerous. Please be very careful when working near or under a damaged tree. Even branches that appear to be well wedged in the crown can fall at any time, resulting in serious bodily injury and property damage. Please do not climb trees without special equipment and do not go near any tree that is in contact with power lines or you may be electrocuted. The law requires that workers not accredited by Hydro-Québec must remain at least 3 metres away from power lines. Don't put your life at risk! Approach trees only when you are sure it is safe to do so. Pruning of large branches and stems is difficult and hazardous and should be done only by people who are trained and experienced in such work.
